Posted by Greg Stone on 3/08/2010 13:53:19

Cancer affects all Australians and there are several employees here at GJS Machinery whose lives have been touched in different ways by the disease. Recently the GJS team was proud to lend its support to AYAC – Australian Youth Against Cancer. On 26 July AYAC conducted its first fundraising event with over 40 people participating in the 11km Sutherland2Surf. GJS Machinery donated a Roland vinyl cutter and thermal textile vinyl so that AYAC could decorate its team shirts with the group’s logo. The donation of this equipment will enable AYAC to create its own shirts for future fundraising activities.

The AYAC team raised over $4,000 on the day. Should you wish to make a donation to this great cause, click here to visit the AYAC website or check them out on Facebook.

Brother GT-541 Direct-to-Garment Printer

Posted by Greg Stone on 6/04/2010 16:01:26

brother gt-541 dtg printer starter packageGJS Machinery today announced the availability of the Brother GT-541, a remarkable new direct-to-garment ink jet printer. This is the first time a Brother direct -to-garment product has been made available to the wider Australian market and is the first product to be made available locally through a new distribution deal between Brother and GJS Machinery.

“Brother Internationals reputation in this space is second to none, we have a large base of machines currently in the USA and have created a solid and profitable business for our users.  When looking at the Australian Market we wanted to partner with the best in the business and we believe GJS Machinery will provide the “At your Side” service that Brother is famous for” said Greg Benardos - National New Technologies Manager, Brother International Australia.

The Brother GT-541 uses ink jet technology to print onto garments in high-quality colour, directly from a computer. Brother developed the GT-541 from the ground up as an industrial grade garment printer and unlike competing products it does not feature any domestic printer technology. The GT-541 is manufactured in Japan by Brother International Corporation’s Industrial Products Division, a global leader in the industrial sewing market.

The GT-541 marks the progression from screen printing technologies to a cleaner, cheaper, and more productive way to print images directly onto garments. It is also faster to operate than traditional screen printing machines as there is no set-up, tear-down, clean-up, screens, squeegees or adhesives.

The four industrial print heads of the GT-541, each with a large droplet size, enable think pigment ink to flow more freely resulting in faster print times and less maintenance. The water-based ink can be cured by a standard heat press, eliminating the need to purchase a conveyor dryer, and significantly reducing operating space requirements.

“The GT-541 garment printer is ideal for screen and quick printers, one-hour photo shops, event planners, premium suppliers and small and medium apparel printing enterprises” said Graham Stone - Managing Director, GJS Machinery. “This ink jet garment printer is also as simple to operate as a desktop printer whilst delivering great print quality” he added.

For more information on the Brother GT-541 visit GJS Machinery at the Visual Impact Image Expo on the Gold Coast between Friday 30 April and Saturday 1 May for a live demo, or visit our website.

GJS Machinery today announced the availability of four new large-format dye sublimation printing solutions: the SubliM RS-640, SubliM XJ-640, SubliM XJ-740 and SubliM FP-740.

Powered by the most reputable brands in the industry; Sawgrass, Roland, Beaver and Wasatch, the GJS Machinery SubliM (pronounced ‘sublime’) wide-format dye sublimation solutions are the pinnacle of sublimation technology.

These solutions are built for applications including point of purchase banners, displays, carpeting, floor graphics, posters, soft signage, flags, sporting goods, photo gifts (mugs, tiles, mouse pads), apparel (sporting clothing, swimsuits, jackets) and much more.

There are five key components that make up GJS’ new dye sublimation solutions:

-1. Roland Printers

The SubliM sublimation systems utilise a Roland inkjet printer that is available in two sizes and offers a maximum media width up to 64 inches (1625mm) or 72 inches (1879mm). With printing speeds of up to 51.0 m2/hr make these solutions ideal for high-volume production. Configured with either four-colour CMYK for rich, vibrant colours or six-colour CMYK + LcLm for photorealistic graphics, there is a SubliM sublimation system suitable for any application.

-2. SubliM Inks

SubliM is a new high-productivity sublimation ink fine-tuned for production and high-volume printing. Formulated by Sawgrass, SubliM allows customers to immediately move into higher productivity in their sublimation printing. With SubliM you can utilise greater printer speeds while maintaining true consistency across an unmatched range of brilliant colours.

Specially formulated to run in high-volume environments, SubliM is available for purchase in 1L containers. By utilising the GJS Machinery Production Series Ink Delivery System, your work flow is streamlined and your cost per print is significantly reduced.

With faster drying times, enabling the use of the high-speed Roland printer, SubliM improves work flow and decreases production time. The end results is enhanced productivity and greater profits. For example Sawgrass claims that larger colour gamut provides better saturated colours reducing ink consumption by up to 20 percent; superior ink quality can reduce maintenance costs by up to 75 percent and faster drying and print speeds provide an increase of 2 percent in annual revenue.

-3. TexPrintXP Paper

TexPrintXP is the finest water-based inkjet dye-sublimation print media available and provides consistent performance from the Roland printer through to the thermal transfer process. When used with SubliM ink, TexPrintXP renders the richest colours and maintains truest tone for optimum consistency. TexPrintXP is designed to resist cockling during inkjet printing, dry quickly to the touch and rewind without wet-transfer. Soft-surface application or hard, TexPrintXP gets the job done right, every time.

I would like to thank all the customers who nominated us. GJS Machinery has always placed customer service and support as our highest priority so all our staff were thrilled knowing it was our customer’s vote that progressed us to the finals.

I would also like to personally thank all the staff at GJS for nominating me, I am privileged to be part of a wonderful team.

GJS Celebrates Grahams 60th Birthday

Posted by Greg Stone on 10/04/2008 16:06:16

On Saturday 5 April, 50 closest family and friends of Managing Director Graham Stone joined to celebrate Grahams 60th Birthday.

Six days after his official birthday, humble Graham was quietly relieved everyone had forgotten this special occasion. Yet to his complete surprise, what was supposed to be a quiet dinner to welcome Greg back from Europe, was actually a dinner party in his honour.

As guests enjoyed a delicious meal, cake and an open bar thanks to Sharon Stones open cheque book, speeches made homage to the loving support he provides his family and to the success of GJS Machinery which is celebrating 30 years in business this year.

ASI Eco-Tex is an ink system designed to print on a range of fabrics. The product was developed in Australia for local print conditions. Formulations are environmentally friendly using neither lead pigments nor any form of Hydrocarbon Solvents.

The Super Cover range is identical in formulation characteristics to the Standard range however as this system is designed to print on dark fabrics, the pigment levels are dramatically increased to produce maximum opacity over dark materials.

The ink system has proven to be ideally suited for both commercial printers and the hobbyist alike. Both the Standard and Super Cover ranges have proven to be suitable for most fabrics.

Credit Card Surcharge

Posted by Greg Stone on 31/01/2008 16:02:18

Following the Reserve Bank reforms in 2006, Visa & MarsterCard have introduced new differentiated merchant rates for different transaction types. Charges now vary depending on whether the card: is present at the transaction; from an online/phone/fax order; a premium Gold/Platinum card; or a corporate/business card. Consequently, we have been advised that as of February 2008 these differentiated charges will now be passed on to us, the merchant, at higher rates.

Rather than hide these increased charges into higher product prices or add further complexity at time of order, we are now forced to pass on a flat 2.0% credit card surcharge to ALL credit card transactions - this excludes debit cards. We will continue to monitor this matter and negotiate our rates with our bank and pass on any rate changes.

We still allow customers to pay for orders by direct depositing money into our account at no additional charge.

Sydney Metro Freight Charges

Posted by Greg Stone on 31/01/2008 10:43:56

Due to the rise of petrol prices over the previous year, effective immediately, GJS Machinery can no longer offer free pickup & delivery to our Sydney metropolitan customers. A standard $12.00 (ex. GST) freight, packaging and handling charge will apply for all orders up to 25kg while a $10.00 (ex. GST) pickup charge will also apply if GJS are collecting screens/frames to be processed.

Customers still have the option to arrange for their own courier to drop off or collect orders at no additional charge.

Farewell Sharon

Posted by Greg Stone on 21/12/2007 07:34:48

It saddens me to write that as of the end of 2007 our administration manager, Sharon, will be retiring.

After 22 years of hard work and dedication at GJS Machinery supervising our office and staff, Sharon has decided that 2007 will be her last year. Sharon’s influence has helped develop the strong company culture that exists today at GJS. During her time with us we frequently received feedback regarding her ‘bubbly personality’ and was often labelled our ‘little miss sunshine’.

Sharon will be missed by all our customers and staff at GJS. We wish her good health and all the best in her retirement.

Dye Sublimation Mailing List

Posted by Greg Stone on 9/11/2007 12:21:39

As we continue to expand our focus on the dye sublimation market our range has grown significantly and will continue to do so. Consequently, it is always difficult to squeeze in all the information available into this single monthly newsletter without it outweighing the other content.

At GJS Machinery we understand the value of product information to your business and how important it is to be kept updated when new products become available. As a result, we have launched a dye sublimation specific mailing list that will compliment this monthly newsletter available for our current sublimation customers. This informal mailing list will enable us to communicate promptly whenever: new products arrive, price lists are revised, brochures updated and if we plan to discontinue a product.

This is another initiative by GJS that will allow you to run your sublimation business armed with all the information you require. All our dye sublimation customers are registered automatically providing we have their email address at time of order.

Website Navigation Improvements

Posted by Greg Stone on 25/07/2007 21:10:47

Since launching our new website in February we have been inundated with extremely positive feedback. There has been a number customers, however, who commented that the primary navigation menu was confusing as it changed between the key sections of the website; equipment, supplies, courses, services and support – which sometimes meant they needed an extra ‘click’ to find what they were looking for.

Accordingly, we have revised our primary navigation by combining all of these five menus into one ‘fly out’ that is now consistent across every page. Now, anything on gjsmachinery.com.au is no more than 3 clicks away! These changes have also seen improvements to page loading time which is also another bonus.

We consider feedback extremely important to our business and always welcome it. We would like to know what you think of this change and also the changes we made last month mentioned here. Please feel free to contact us any time with your feedback or suggestions.

New Website Now Online

Posted by Greg Stone on 29/01/2007 16:47:03

We invite you to read the story behind the new gjsmachinery.com.au and find out why it’s simply a better experience for you.

This week GJS Machinery launched the new gjsmachinery.com.au – the biggest change we’ve made to our website since it first went online back in 1995.

The relaunch incorporates a major visual redesign, a complete rework of navigation and searching, and a total overhaul of the website’s Shopping Cart and Checkout, as well as the inclusion of more than 1,400 products.

gjsmachinery.com.au has been online for more than 11 years and although it’s a very popular website, amongst its many successes in recent years it has become out-of-date – both in terms of its design and the level of functionality it offers to you – our customers.

So late in 2005, it was time for GJS Machinery to take a hard look at our website and decide what to do next ...

Now after over a year of extensive planning, development and testing our new website has been launched and we’re very excited!
